dPOP seeks a creative self-starter to join our team as a Lead Designer.  With a passion for provocative design and a dedication to client satisfaction this person will lead and manage the efforts of the design team.  Exceptional communication skills and a positive attitude are required to build and foster relationships with dPOP’s amazing clients. What You'll Do/Need

The Commercial Lead Designer crafts distinct and compelling imagery and design concepts that will ultimately be coveted industrywide. This powerful, creative team member not only upholds but also elevates our brand and voice. Candidates must attach a design portfolio upon application.



  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout entire design process, attending and leading all client meetings
  • Manage client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination to ensure all client goals and objectives are met
  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships built on trust with clients, vendors, contractors, architects, etc.
  • Manage the design process throughout the entire project, leading and directing the work of the Design team
  • Develop expertise on projects based on varying scales of work, project scopes and phases of design
  • Develop design contracts, set fees, and estimate hours for project duration
  • Ensure projects conform to their contracts
  • Create and communicate clear and attainable project objectives and project requirements
  • Conducted weekly meetings with the Design team to review project development, as needed
  • Identify and communicate project deliverables and deadlines for the Design team
  • Prepare and deliver contracts in a timely manner after initial client meetings
  • Update the leadership team on reporting and financial forecasting for all projects
  • Finalize presentation material for initial client meetings
  • Follow up on leads in a thoughtful and purposeful way
  • Coordinate with the Marketing Director for project documentation, including written descriptions, website reviews, award submissions, etc.
  • Create and develop overall design concepts, formulate design presentation strategies and lead client presentations
  • Oversee the following efforts of the Design team:
    • Conduct programming efforts (space planning, furnishing layout, lighting and finish coordination)
    • Develop innovative design concepts that are reflective of client goals within the project budget
    • Render conceptual, schematic and design development drawings
    • Encourage the team to create facility-minded design solutions
    • Select and specify furniture, finishes, lighting and artwork


  • Seven years of related work experience in workplace design or hospitality design
  • Graduate or undergraduate degree in architecture, interior architecture, or interior design from an accredited college or university
  • NCIDQ Certification is a must
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), AutoCAD, and a 3-D modeling software, including but not limited to Revit, SketchUp, and/or 3ds Max
  • Experience in specifying furniture, fixtures and equipment
  • Advanced graphic and verbal presentation skills, including hand-sketching
  • Knowledge of drawing design techniques, tools and principles
  • Knowledge of construction methodology, materials and manufacturers
  • Experience in both the office and field process of construction
  • Ability to travel periodically
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and get along with team members and resolve design conflicts within the team
  • Ability to learn and act in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient task management and project management skills
  • High level of motivation and passion for design
  • Ability to lead the project team
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines and create next steps
  • Involvement in community and industry organizations
