Who We Are

dPOP seeks a team member that can operate in a fast paced and dynamic environment and has experience in architectural practice and conceptual design. As a member of the team, this individual needs to have strong understanding of the built environment, building technology and trends related to commercial interiors.

What You'll Do/Need

The Architect operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and has experience in graphic design, architecture communications, urban design graphics and conceptual design. As a member of the Architecture team, this individual needs to have a strong understanding of the built environment, a keen interest in urban issues and a desire to represent these complex issues in multiple graphic formats.


  • Coordinate with the in-house design team, consultants, contractors, vendors, fabricators and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives
  • Manage client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Prepare architectural drawings for presentations, space planning, concepts, schematics and design development construction documents
  • Perform construction administration for small- to medium-sized projects
  • Take an active role in a local professional association
  • Present design solutions to client representatives and design review committees
  • Enforce guidelines, quality control and standards
  • Manage projects, including negotiating project scope, managing fees and invoicing, and overseeing job production and quality
  • Gather materials for projects based on the palette selection and design scheme
  • Collaborate on commercial interiors projects to identify client needs and develop design solutions
  • Specify and procure furniture
  • Create photorealistic renderings
  • Prepare presentation materials for client meetings
  • Develop accurate and complete construction documents for the permitting process
  • Develop and respond to requests for information
  • Review job sites and manage construction
  • Manage multiple clients across a varying scale of work and project scope



  • Five years of professional architectural experience in commercial interiors with an accredited degree in architecture
  • NCARB certification
  • Portfolio of commercial, hospitality and workplace projects
  • Registration as an architect in good standing with the state of Michigan
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in 3-D modeling software, including SketchUp
  • Proficiency in 3ds Max, Revit or BIM
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to develop value engineering options to adhere to clients’ budget needs
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, the building permit process and AIA standard contracts
  • Proficiency in creating and following budgets
  • Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills
  • Strong task and project management skills
  • Tendency toward proactive problem solving, attention to detail and a well-organized design process
  • Ability to travel periodically
  • Experience specifying furniture, fixtures and equipment
  • Advanced graphic and verbal presentation skills, including the ability to hand-sketch
