What You'll Do/Need
The NoSQL Database Administrator performs regular database maintenance tasks such as index rebuilding, upgrades and storage management. In addition, this team member manages database availability and backup and recovery systems.
Research, evaluate and recommend NoSQL solutions and suggest best use case scenarios
Work closely with development teams in designing and validating NoSQL solutions for suitable applications
Work closely with various teams (Development, Windows and Storage) to set up standards and road maps
Make recommendations on best practices regarding data management, data architecture and data design for NoSQL
Evaluate and recommend management/monitoring tools for the NoSQL products and perform database health monitoring and diagnostics
Ensure system performance and reliability
Develop backup and recovery procedures as well as high availability and disaster recovery solutions
Four-year degree or equivalent experience
Two years of minimum engineering and supporting NoSQL solutions
Two years of production NoSQL database administration experience as well as experience in Microsoft SQL Server and any relational database
Proficiency with installing, configuring, administering and benchmarking NoSQL technologies
Proficiency with one or more NoSQL products, such as MongoDB, Hadoop, Riak, etc.
Proficiency with UNIX/Linux operating system administration
Proficiency in database tuning, design, security, backup, recovery, and high availability and disaster recovery solutions
Proficiency in designing and documenting use cases
Experience with cloud technologies and SAN snapshot backup technology
Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams and vendors
Strong problem detection and solving skills as well as network troubleshooting skills
Ability to build positive working relationships with other team members
