And once those problems are solved, they’re ready for whatever’s next.
On the Technology team, when you’re not busy revolutionizing the mortgage industry with the technology that you create, you’ll get personal time each week to work on whatever tech projects you want.
If you’re ready to transform an industry and transform your career, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do/Need
The RF Planning Engineer is responsible for providing preplanning, radio planning, prelaunch optimization and capacity planning services for metro/RAN network implementation projects and client network designs in collaboration with the Rocket Fiber project team. This team member designs, plans and oversees installation, maintenance and optimization of wireless radio access network communications systems, including radio propagation modeling and received signal prediction utilizing specific planning tools for wireless technologies.
Understanding of target system requirements and functionality
Support a wide range of point-to-point and multipoint wireless product certifications in the unlicensed and licensed spectrums
Experience in 3GPP/LTE and emerging 5G technologies
Dimension the RAN network (number of channel elements, Nodes, RNCs) according to coverage, capacity and quality requirements
Plan Nodes in RF planning tools (NetAct Planner/InfoVista) to define related parameters (site coordinates, antenna type, antenna height, antenna tilt, antenna azimuth, CPICH power, cable loss, propagation model parameters)
Validate field site configuration during the technical site survey visit and prepare the Technical Site Survey report
Set specific RF parameters for the site to be integrated (RNCid, WBTSid, LcrId, MCC, MNC, LAC, RAC, SAC, CId, UARFCN frequency, scrambling code, T-cell, neighbors)
Analyze site performance after integration through drive test measurements and/or OSS measurements; detect eventual problems and recommend changes to fix those problems
Coordinate and validate the technical work of a small group of RF Performance Engineers in a project
Transfer the competence internally and towards Rocket Fiber customers through formal trainings or on-the-job training
Contribute to project planning and design decisions
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering or five years of equivalent relevant experience
Strong knowledge of RF engineering principles (RF communications theory, design principles, network optimization, propagation modeling and prediction, etc.)
RAN and LTE experience
Knowledge of test tools and software (JDSU, Tektronix, Probes, IBUs, etc.)
Signaling skill set (training on tools can be provided)
Good understanding of multithreading and inter-process communication
Experience in performance management (system KPIs and metrics, etc.)
Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills
Ability to work with clients, peers, carriers and testing labs to achieve project, personal and team goals
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Some travel is required
What’ll Make You Special
Knowledge of M2M concepts and experience in development
Experiences in wireless technologies (802.11, GSM/EDGE, UMTS/HSPA, CDMA/EVDO and LTE)
What You'll Get
Excellent benefits package that includes a 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision, and much more
Opportunities to participate in professional and personal development programs, including personal empowerment coaching, leadership training and ongoing personal growth training
Other incentives, contests and rewards, including trips, event tickets, cash prizes, and more
