What You'll Do/Need

The Senior Network Engineer at Rocket Fiber works on the architecture, design, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of transmission and reception equipment. This team member provides general and technical supervision of the central office, head end, core network, backhaul, vendor-supplied services and Client Care Consultants.



  • Configure core and site routers, switches and changes when upgrades and augments occur
  • Design and engineer regional and local circuit structures for future dark-fiber projects and regional service POPs
  • Share equipment and design knowledge with fellow team members
  • Support network projects and oversee vendor performance
  • Oversee network projects as they pertain to the facilities team, including path diversification, cost reduction initiatives, cell availability evaluations, equipment decommissioning, facility migration, etc.
  • Plan and monitor capacity to ensure adequate bandwidth
  • Monitor KPIs and work with other teams to fix or improve performance
  • Ensure the accuracy of all records and oversee project budgets
  • Audit existing configurations and complete vendor questionnaires
  • Work in a collaborative, cost-effective and safe manner that addresses client needs and expectations
  • Design and install all processes and equipment for the extension and repair of network facilities


  • Bachelor’s degree in technology
  • Five years of experience in telecommunication or voice and data engineering
  • Knowledge of key business issues in the telecommunication industry
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and technical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of all field operations and equipment
  • Technical knowledge of networking, switches and routers across multiple VLANS, VPLS and equipment
  • Technical knowledge of BGP, OSPF, MPLS, multicast and QoS
  • Experience using physical and virtual Linux servers, SNMP-based monitoring systems and client management equipment

What’ll Make You Special

  • Certificates or proven work experience in Juniper, Cisco, OpenStack or SDN
