What You'll Do/Need

The Education and Employment team’s Associate Project Manager assists with project management, grants management and general day-to-day business support for the Detroit-focused team. This team member works collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and has a thorough understanding of education and employment issues, project management and grant-making.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis, including evaluating data and service providers, assessing current challenges and opportunities, and meeting with local partners citywide
  • Record, synthesize and produce reports and presentations based on analyses
  • Perform functions of grants management support, such as preparation and timely submission of grant applications and reports, relationship-building and budget oversight
  • Conduct due diligence on prospective 501(c)(3) partner organizations, including financial analyses
  • Coordinate in-house and partnered educational/workforce development programs, such as coordinating logistics with program partners, leading hands-on activities with students, coordinating with the Team Member Engagement team, etc.
  • Perform support functions, such as working with other team members to ensure open project communications and coordinating logistics for meetings and conference calls
  • Supervise projects through completion

 

Requirements

  • Passion for and commitment to serving youth and residents in the city of Detroit and a strong understanding of the local and national landscape in education and workforce development as well as the connections between the two
  • Two to four years of experience in program or grants management, education, workforce development, and/or community development
  • Excellent research, writing, organizational, presentation and communication skills
  • Proven ability to problem-solve, multitask, juggle multiple responsibilities and coordinate multiple projects while focusing on meeting set goals
  • Proficiency in using and navigating platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite as well as the ability to comfortably learn and use new technology
  • Ability to self-motivate and work with minimal instructions and supervision at time
  • Ability to confidently take the initiative and act with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to efficiently plan, organize and implement work priorities
