What You'll Do/Need

As a Web UI Engineer, you must have a solid technical foundation with HTML, CSS, UX/interaction design and DOM focused JavaScript. Additionally, you should have a working knowledge of usability and accessibility, as well as the ability to complete tasks with little supervision and participate in regular code reviews. You must be able to follow current team practices while participating in decisions to adopt new standards and best practices for projects.

 

Responsibilities

  • Write HTML, CSS and JavaScript in existing and new products
  • Develop new features within the framework and standards of the team
  • Help determine new standards and best practices for your team
  • Work closely with product designers to create user-focused interactions from static designs and wireframes

Requirements

  • Deep experience with the basics of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Some experience with advanced JavaScript and CSS, including preprocessors
  • Experience with responsive and mobile web design
  • Experience with CSS architectural principals (e.g., OOCSS, BEM, SMACSS)
  • An understanding of, and experience with, progressive enhancement

 

What’ll Make You Special

  • Experience developing applications with JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g., React, Backbone, Angular, Ember)
  • Experience with JavaScript unit testing and unit testing frameworks
  • Experience using build tools (such as Gulp and Grunt) and package management tools (such as NPM, Bower and GEM)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Subversion)
  • Experience fixing performance issues and using performance monitoring tools
  • Experience working with PHP or C#/.NET
  • Experience working with visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI
